What I find fascinating about sculpture is the influence a sculpture has on its surroundings. You can see this clearly when you look at sculptures close together: they also shape the space in between. Surprising spatial effects can also occur between a painting on the wall and an adjacent sculpture. Then you see our mellemrum, our playing field where we move around each other.

I prefer to work with found material: stones from demolition, trees that have to be uprooted for one reason or another. Material in which there is already an impetus to a form or a gesture, to which I can react, creating interaction between me and the material. And between the moment when the viewer looks, and the sometimes centuries-long genesis of the material.
